Pre-K round II news

Families who applied for pre-K seats in the second application round should have news by the end of this week; letters went out by mail yesterday afternoon, according to an email from the DOE's Andy Jacob.

Through the two rounds we had identified 6 schools we were ready to go with. Rejected from them all and offered a slot at a 7th school rated 2 stars for reading, 3 stars for math (out of 5). Thanks but no thanks

We were rejected from all of our round 2 selections. As a "convenience" we were offered an opening within our district - 68 blocks away, two local subway lines away. Of course, we're 4 blocks away from an adjacent district, but we're offered the convenience of the same district. 68 blocks away. Real rocket scientists are running the show here. But you can't call, you can't appeal, you can't get a person to assist, or even listen for that matter. But at least anonymous text on the website says "post-round 2 info coming soon..." How encouraging.

Really discouraging news - wow. If you have the stamina to keep trying, contact the pre-K admissions staff (telephone numbers in a new post on pre-K, going live shortly). Wish that geographic proximity was taken into account -- fairly ridiculous to be placed at a school more than 3 miles away when a good school is much, much closer. Have you explored asking for a variance to the closer school/s? I realize it all takes legwork and entirely too much time...

This is unreal! I applied round 1 and was rejected although the same school I was rejected from was available still on the round 2 directory? Applied to 6 schools with full day AM and PM slots and was rejected yet again with no other options! I really don't understand the logic! I understand that it is not a mandatory program but I do feel it is an important stepping stone to a mainstream school and they should have more locations available! Yes a CBO is a choice but will the quality of education be the same or will it end up being daycare for 2 1/2 hours? EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED!!!!
